Kid-Friendly Napa Weekend

Meritage Resort

Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley, the Meritage Resort is a family-friendly destination that offers something for everyone. With its luxurious amenities, breathtaking views, and convenient location, the Meritage Resort is the perfect place for families to relax, unwind and make memories that will last a lifetime. They also have a great family fun package deal going on until August 31, which makes it a perfect Spring Break or Summer family vacation destination! Here are just some of the great kid-friendly features that make the Meritage Resort a top choice for families:

  1. Multiple pool options, with a separate pool for kids, so parents don't have to feel worried about bothering others when they are splashing around and having fun.

The Meritage Resort boasts 3 large swimming pools, each with a different theme and atmosphere. We spend most of our time at the main pool, perfect for family fun, with plenty of seating, a hot tub and snack bar. They had private cabanas, which offered more shade that had comfortable couch areas to sit, refrigerators stocked with drinks and TVs to watch your favorite shows when taking a break from swimming. The adults-only pool was a great option for those looking for a more serene experience with amazing view of the vineyards.

2. Luxurious and spacious rooms with everything you need provided!

We stayed at the 1-bedroom suite at the Grand Reserve, which included a full bath tub, shower, dining area and pull out couch for the kids. The TV’s had a Netflix set up, where the kids enjoyed a short movie night upon arrival, while mom and dad enjoyed a taste of the (complimentary) bottle of wine on the balcony overlooking the lawn during sunset. The bathrooms were VERY spacious, with a vanity area for mom (so helpful!), a tub that the kids considered their own personal pool and separate shower. The kitchen had counter seating, a full fridge, espresso/coffee machine and microwave and stove. All essential cooking items, as well as plates and utensils were all stocked with everything a family may need if staying for just a weekend or a few weeks!

3. On-site bowling alley..a family outing has never been so easy!

Bowling was such a family friendly activity and the fact that it was ON site and we could walk there, made it that much more convenient! The bowling alley inside the Crush lounge, where they had yummy kid-friendly food options such as nachos, fries and chicken tenders. There was even a shuffle board for the kids to play in between turns! There were only a few lanes, so reservations are suggested!

4. A large lawn to run around and play while the parents socialize and taste wine around the fire

The Meritage has a beautiful lawn where families can relax, gather around a fire and taste wine of course! The children will love playing the lawn games available such as giant jenga and there’s plenty of room to run around and play. Our kids were busy running around and playing with the other children in a space that’s open where it’s easy to keep an eye on them, while the adults were able to nibble on some bites and relax with a wine tasting. There’s also a small grocery store for snacks for the kids right by the lawn, which came in handy as well!

5. Less than 10 minutes to downtown dining. Casual kid-friendly options the Oxbow Market, which has tons of items to pick from such as deli sandwiches, fresh produce, sushi and desserts! We tried Kara cupcakes and the kids absolutely loved it. There were so many options to choose from and they were all delicious!

La Cheve is another amazing kid-friendly option! It’s this great authentic Mexican food brunch spot that has huge portions and such a unique vibe. It was such a casual and kid friendly place, and the fact that they had amazing food was such a bonus! The pastries were TOP tier, they were fresh, warm and served with the perfect cup of coffee! We took some home and instantly regretted not grabbing more because we ate them all before morning. Their churro donuts and croissants were my favorite and my husband and kids loved the mante conches!

The food was SO authentic (and we are very picky about our Mexican food, especially my husband). We got the flan french toast, which was AMAZING! It was moist, fluffy and not overbearingly sweet . We also got the chile verde benedicto, which was a fun spin on eggs benedict and it was served with the freshest salsa. We also got their chilaquiles, which were just as delicious! Their portions were so big that we had little room for the pastries, so we brought some home (which went quickly) and our only regret was not getting more!

6. Close to downtown Yountville where there are tons of great restaurants and  Napa Valley Bike Tours. We rented E-bikes and a trailer to pull the kids and explore downtown all Yountville had to offer.

This was a perfect family friendly activity to get outdoors. We got to experience beautiful views of wineries, a herd of longhorns, historic buildings and amazing shops and restaurants. We then stopped at Yountville Park for the kids to get out and play, while mom and dad took a break! The best part was combination locks were provided, if you wanted to stop and go in any restaurant or shops during your ride.

In conclusion, the Meritage Resort is a top choice for families looking for a luxurious, yet kid-friendly vacation destination in Napa! With tons of family fun activities to do, it’s a great hotel to visit for the family vacation.
